Applications are now open !


We are pleased to announce that applications for the 2016 IPS Winter School are now open. Places are limited to 35 participants per week and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Prospective participants should be post-graduate students and/or early career academics. Deadline for application is Monday, 6 June 2016. Candidates may choose to apply for: 

• Option 1: first week (June 27 - July 01, 2016) 
• Option 2: second week (July 04– July 08, 2016) 
• Option 3: both weeks

Prospective participants should fill in the Application Form (download here) and email it, along with supporting documents, to ipswinterschool@gmail.com by Monday, 06 June 2016. 

Applicants that fulfill the eligibility criteria will be contacted with payment information. 
A reduced fee is available for registration paid in full by Wednesday, 25 May 2016

Fees are (Brazilian Reais): 
• One week: R$ 1.300,00 / R$ 1.000,00 Reduced fee 
• Two weeks: R$ 1.950,00 / R$ 1.500,00 Reduced fee

Temos  o  prazer  de  anunciar  que  as  inscrições  para  a  Escola  de  Inverno IPS 2016 estão abertas. As vagas são limitadas a 35 participantes por semana e serão preenchidas por ordem de inscrição. Para participar, o candidato deve ser aluno de pós-graduação  e/ou  acadêmico  em  início  de  carreira. A data  final  para  as  inscrições  está  prevista para segunda-feira, dia 6 de junho de 2016. Candidatos podem aplicar para: 

 Opção 1: a primeira semana (27 de Junho - 01 de Julho, 2016) 
 Opção 2: a segunda semana (04 de Julho - 08 de Julho, 2016) 
 Opção 3: as duas semanas

Candidatos  que  preencherem  os  critérios  de  elegibilidade  serão  contatados  com informações sobre o pagamento. Estamos oferecendo um valor com desconto para as inscrições realizadas até quarta-feira, 25 de maio de 2016.

Os valores (em reais) do investimento são:

You are invited to our second week Roundtables!

The second week of the the 2015 IPS Winter School is soon beginning and you are invited to our roundtables! The attendance is free and open to the public.

Roundtable – “Acting Politics: Democracy, Inequality and Contestation” 

July 07, 19:00 – 21:00, B8 Auditorium, Frings Building, 8th floor - PUC-Rio

In this roundtable, professors Kyle Grayson, Jef Huysmans, Vivienne Jabri and João P. Nogueira will discuss what it means to be political against our current background of growing global inequality and mounting frustration towards national citizenship as the sole mode of political action. 


Closing Session – “IPS: the next 10 years”
July 10, 17:00 – 18:30, B8 Auditorium, Frings Building, 8th floor - PUC-Rio

In this closing roundtable, professors Kyle Grayson, Jef Huysmans, João P. Nogueira, Marta Fernández, Roberto Yamato, and Isabel Rocha de Siqueira will get together to discuss the future of the IPS movement. What have we learned so far? Where do we head from here?
