FINAL DAY TO APPLY TO THE IPS WINTER SCHOOL!

The IPS Winter School will offer an opportunity to engage in an intensive academic experience in the theory, methodology and current research in International Political Sociology. Activities include courses, workshops, public lectures, roundtables and informal discussions, in an environment that will facilitate scholarly exchanges and socialization among participants.

Candidates may choose to apply for:
• Option 1: first week only (29 June – 03 July 2015) 

• Option 2: second week only (06 July – 10 July 2015) 

• Option 3: both weeks

Update on our professional mentorship sessions!



Professional mentorship sessions will provide students the opportunity to discuss with senior faculty various issues related to the academic profession. Participants will learn about the challenges involved in getting a permanent position, being part of academic networks and successfully moving on in the academic career. The purpose of these sections is to allow students to question Faculty members about these “more practical” topics involved in achieving a successful academic career.

It is our pleasure to announce that the professional mentorship sessions will be led by:

Professional mentorship sessions will take place on both Thursday, from 13:30 to 15:00.

Master Students are welcome to apply!




We are glad to announce that, due to a large demand, we have decided to welcome qualified Master students to enroll. If you are taking your Master's degree and intend to pursue doctoral research on International Political Sociology, we are now happy to accept your application. So we can process all cases, the application deadline has been postponed to 29 May 2015.

The application process hasn't changed. Prospective participants should fill in the Application Form {here} and email it, along with supporting documents, to ipswinterschool@gmail.com by the new deadline, 29 May 2015.

Meet the editors! Learn about article submissions with PUBLISHING TUTORIALS



Publishing tutorials are an important part of the IPS Winter School skills training calendar. They will offer participants an opportunity to meet editors and members of editorial boards of leading IR journals, to discuss the work of publishing academic articles, PhD theses and books. Sessions will give participants a glimpse of the nuts and bolts of the editorial and peer review work. They will also be a great opportunity to ask questions about submissions and other topics of general interest to doctoral candidates and early-career scholars.

More information on our Writing Seminars!


Offering doctoral students and early career researchers an opportunity to develop their transferable skills is a key concern of the IPS Winter School. As part of the sessions devoted to skills training, our Writing Seminars will allow students to debate with faculty members the many styles, strategies and challenges involved in academic writing.

It is our pleasure to announce that professors Jimmy Casas Klausen (Week 1) and Mike Shapiro (Week 2) will be leading the sessions on the politics and aesthetics of academic writing.

Writing seminars will take place on both Thursdays, from 15:15 to 16:45.
